About Us

TeamKids is the fundraising platform for the Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation, raising money to support the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide. We have provided more than $30 million to the WCH over the past ten years, and are committed to ensuring that mums, children and their families have access to the very best in medical care, hospital facilities and support services at a time when they need it most. And that's why we need your help.

The Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation aims to raise a further $40 million over the next 10 years through our annual TeamKids Easter Appeal and other initiatives.

As the state’s only dedicated specialist children's hospital and largest maternity and obstetric service, it holds a very special place in the hearts of almost every South Australian family. Around 5,000 babies are born at the hospital each year and more than a quarter of a million of our children and mums are treated by a dedicated, skilled and committed hospital community.

TeamKids is committed to raising money with the South Australian community to help ensure that hospital stays are more comfortable and less stressful, and assist in advancing research into preventing disease, the search for cures, and improving quality of life.

Nicholas Begakis

Dr Nicholas Begakis AO Chairman

Nick has more than 30 years' experience in senior management roles in manufacturing industries, as an entrepreneur in his own enterprises, in venture capital, merchant banking and corporate recovery roles. He currently has various State and National roles as an independent, non-executive Company Director and Chairman. In particular, he is Chairman of a number of Boards including Statewide Superannuation Trust, a Director of Business SA and the Australian Chamber Alliance. Awarded Doctor of the University, honoris causa, DUniv Flin, April 2012


Michael OConnor

Michael O'Connor Deputy Chairman

Michael graduated from the South Australian Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Applied Science in 1984. Since then he has carved a significant career and business in the building industry in South Australia. In addition to his role on the WCH Foundation board, Michael is also a member of the Master Builder's Association and the Young Presidents Organisation.

Morry Bailes

Morry Bailes

Since 2002, Morry has been Managing Partner of Tindall Gask Bentley, having joined the firm in 1988. Immediate Past President (2014) of the Law Society of South Australia, he is also a Director of the Law Council of Australia, a member of its Finance and Risk Committee, and a Director of Lawguard Management Pty Ltd. Morry specialises in criminal law and association matters, is the principal legal advisor to the Police Association of SA, and several other associations in South Australia.

Tony Bourne

Dr Tony Bourne

Tony studied Medicine at the University of Adelaide from 1964-1969 and subsequently trained in pathology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Tony took up post as a Consultant Pathologist at the Adelaide Children's Hospital in 1977, a position which continued with the Women's & Children's Hospital until he retired in 2007.

Wee Keat Chan

Wee Keat Chan

Wee is a Partner of Bray Chan Chartered Accountants and his areas of expertise include the manufacturing, fashion and services industries. Wee Keat was formerly the National President of the Australia Malaysia Business Council. In 2007, in recognition of his meritorious service and contribution in further strengthening the trade relations between Australia and Malaysia, Wee Keat was conferred the honorary award of Johan Mangku Negara (J.M.N.) (Companion in the Order of the Defender of the Realm) by the King of Malaysia, His Majesty Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.

Bronwen Gwynn-Jones

Bronwen Gwynn-Jones

Bronwen Gwynn-Jones is Managing Director CumminsRoss SA, a full-service advertising and media agency, launched in February 2012. Previously, Bronwen was Founding Director of Jigsaw Media, an independent South Australian media company that published magazines including Sumptuous and The Vine and produced Sumptuous Television. Bronwen has written for and edited numerous national and South Australian publications.
