Brightening the lives of SA’s sick kids starts with hope…and YOU!

Big Hearts is a special group of supporters who make a donation every month.

Knowing we have the long term support of regular donors means we can plan for the future, helping the hospital provide the very best care when and where it’s needed most.

To become a Big Heart all you need to do is commit to a monthly gift. You can choose an amount that suits you ($10 minimum/month) and if your circumstances change you can easily amend or stop your payment.

As a Big Heart you will receive a special welcome pack, regular updates and exclusive offers and invitations.

You’ll also become officially amazing!

Why? Because you’ll be supporting sick kids and their families, the doctors and the nurses who look after them and those in need of care who have yet to come, but know they can rely on the Women’s and Children’s Hospital to be there when they need it most.

The Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation is hitting the streets!

The WCHF is building awareness and raising critical funds through person-to-person conversations on the street in South Australia.

Every hour of every day, babies, women and children benefit from the expert staff, dedicated research, specialised equipment, excellent services and enhanced facilities at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.

Much of this would not be possible without you, the supporters and donors of the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Our Major Gifts Program comprises a very special group of donors who have made a gift of $10,000 or more annually to the WCH Foundation.  These donors are currently investing in research and education, life-saving equipment, enhanced facilities and additional family-centred services such as play and art therapists as well as other areas of high importance and need.

For more information about the Major Gifts Program or to learn more about how your gift can make a real difference in our community, both the Manager Major Gifts or our CEO would be delighted to speak with you.

Leave a lasting legacy of hope to help SA's sick children.

Since the Adelaide Children’s Hospital was established in the 1870s, the people of South Australia have shown how much they care.  From the very beginning, the community has generously responded to help meet the needs of sick children and their families both financially and through in-kind support.

The most significant financial help given to the hospital is realised from leaving a gift in a Will to the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation. After making sure family and friends are taken care of, there is comfort in knowing that your legacy lives on.

With a gift in your will, you could help invest in vital medical equipment; in programs that bring a few precious moments of respite or escape for a child who has spent days in bed; or in research, making a critical investment in the future wellbeing of all women and children in our state.

Gifts from bequests can come in many forms depending on your individual circumstances:

• The residue of your estate e.g. the amount left once you have provided for others

• A percentage of the overall value of your estate to accommodate growth or reduction in its value over time

• A set amount of money, an insurance policy, real estate or shares.

The wording of your bequest

The wording of your bequest is extremely important and requires special attention when drafting your Will.  Don’t forget to get legal advice from a Legal Advisor, the State Trustee, Public Trustee or a Trustee Company. They can help you draft or change your will and should use the following wording depending on which choice is most appropriate:

I give to the Women’s & Children’s Hospital foundation Incorporated ABN 99 682 331 968

The rest and residue of my Estate or

_______ per cent of my Estate or

_______ per cent of the residue of my Estate or

the sum of $_________________

free of all duties and testamentary expenses for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive officer or other proper officer of that organisation shall be sufficient discharge to my executors for this bequest.

Include a charity

The WCH Foundation is a proud member of Include a Charity - a national campaign involving 140 charities, that aims to raise awareness about the ease and effectiveness of leaving a gift in a Will.

Include a Charity week takes place from 8-14 September.  To find out more and help spread the “ Live On” message, visit www.includeacharity.org.au.  To watch the TV advertisement, see below.

Making a gift in memory to the WCH Foundation is a special way of commemorating the life of someone close to you who has passed away.

It is also a meaningful alternative to sending flowers and gives family and friends the opportunity to support a cause that helps to ensure mums, children and their families continue to receive the very best in medical care, hospital facilities and support services at a time when they need it most.

We can provide you with special memorial donation envelopes delivered to the family or funeral home at your request. We can also supply information about the TeamKids to share with friends and family so that they can learn more about how their gift will help.

For more information, please contact the foundation on 08 8464 7900 or email teamkids@wchfoundation.org.au

As the state’s only dedicated specialist children’s hospital and largest maternity and obstetric service, the WCH holds a very special place in the hearts of almost every South Australian family. Around 5,000 babies are born at the hospital each year and more than a quarter of a million of our children and mums are treated by a dedicated, skilled and committed hospital community.

If you would like to share your story with TeamKids, we would love to hear about your journey.

Staff Activities

Our fundraising events such as the TeamKids Webathon are distinctive and engaging to raise funds for a worthy cause and allow you to involve staff in morale building activities that are fun, team building and manageable.

From a business perspective there are many PR, photo and social networking opportunities and also to include a summary in your annual report and shareholder newsletters.

Workplace Payroll Donation

Workplace giving by making a regular donation to TeamKids on an annual commitment basis as a simple and effective method for employees to make a contribution to a nominated TeamKids fundraising project.

This voluntary scheme involves employees nominating the amount they would like to donate from each pay. The pre-tax donation can be processed through your business payroll and just a couple of dollars can amount to a significant donation for the project.

The ATO website has guidelines on setting up a workplace giving program - More Information

Dollar matching

As a morale boosting exercise and to improve staff relations, many companies choose to match donations made by employees to demonstrate that they also support causes that are important to their staff. It really motivates employees if they know you will double what they donate.

We will assist you in setting up a staff scheme to acknowledge donations and participation in fundraising activities.

Grants and Partnering Opportunities - Trust or Foundation

If your company has set up a Trust or Foundation to support charitable causes, we would welcome the opportunity to co-partner with you to leverage the strength of our marketing power that support our innovative fundraising programs.
